Car wreckers Ashbury for the spare car you no longer use

An older car may have stopped earning its place in the garage long before you decide what to do with it. Active Dismantlers buys unwanted, damaged, broken-down, scrap and junk cars from Ashbury owners. Ask for an assessment without getting it back on the road first.

Send its make, model and year, then describe its current condition. Explain whether it last ran normally, developed a fault or has accident damage. If it has been unused, say what you know rather than guessing that it only needs a battery.

Include any removed parts and whether it can roll and steer. We can discuss a quote and the requirements for collecting it from its current position. The offer is confirmed for the individual vehicle, not a fixed payout for every old car.

If you want to keep it instead, ask us about used parts for the repair. We check both small components and larger assemblies against the specification needed.

Can a car be assessed without being started?

Yes. Describe what you know about its condition and explain whether it moves on its wheels. You do not need to get it running just to enquire.

Is the make and model enough for a quote?

Include the year, condition, completeness and location too. Those details describe the actual car rather than only its model family.

Prepare for a straightforward Ashbury handover

Speak with our Sydney car dismantlers about where your Ashbury car is parked and what access it has. Explain whether it is in a garage, driveway or street space and whether another vehicle or stored items block the way.

If access runs beside the house or through a shared entry, mention gates and clearance limits. Tell us about locked steering or flat tyres before a collection time is agreed. Photos can help explain the situation if the team requests them.

Decide which loose items are included in the sale and tell us about any component you intend to keep. An assessment of a complete car needs to be updated if parts are removed afterwards. Arrange the access contact and have ownership information ready.

Before handover, confirm the accepted offer, payment arrangements and any collection costs. Remove personal belongings from storage compartments as well as the cabin and boot. Collection is booked directly with the team after the details are agreed.

  1. Explain its condition

Include the faults you know and any missing parts.

  2. Explain its position

Describe the entry and anything blocking the route out.

  3. Confirm the details

Agree on included items, payment and collection terms.

Must I clear the whole garage before making an enquiry?

You can enquire first. Describe the space and obstructions so the team can discuss what access would be required before collection.

Can I change which parts are included after a quote?

Tell the team before making the change. Removing components may affect the assessed vehicle and collection arrangements, so the agreement needs to be reviewed.

Engine bay and mechanical components

Small used components as well as major replacements

Ashbury customers can enquire about a handle, switch or mirror as well as an engine or gearbox. We also check lighting, body panels, electrical items and interior components. Describe the individual part rather than assuming a complete assembly is necessary.

Makes include Honda, Mazda, Toyota, Kia, Ford and Volkswagen, alongside other manufacturers. Include the model, year and relevant variant details.

For a fitting, identify its side and position and provide a number or photograph if available. For a mechanical unit, use your repairer's required specification. Used parts can be considerably cheaper than new replacements, with condition, demand and rarity affecting the quoted price. Confirm availability and what comes with the item before ordering.

Can I buy a switch without buying the surrounding trim?

Describe the exact item and vehicle details. We can check whether it is available separately or supplied with a larger component.

Should I tell you which side of the car the part is for?

Yes, where relevant. Include the side and position so a request for a mirror, light, handle or panel is not left ambiguous.

Tools used for automotive maintenance

Agree on condition and supply before collecting

Our qualified staff check and test used parts, and employees remove them for supply. Ask about the actual item's condition and included fittings. There is no pick-your-own dismantling; wait for confirmation that your order is ready before travelling from Ashbury.

Paid delivery to your address or nominated workshop can be discussed separately. Small eligible items may travel by courier, while large assemblies need suitable freight and unloading. Batteries and tyres are not sent by courier. Give the receiving details before the delivery charge is confirmed.

We accept returns for faulty items or parts we supplied incorrectly. We do not offer change-of-mind returns when the customer orders the wrong part, or an additional voluntary warranty. Applicable Australian Consumer Law rights remain unaffected.

Can I arrange a mechanic to receive the part?

Yes. Provide the workshop address, contact and receiving hours when discussing paid delivery. Confirm unloading arrangements for any heavy item.

What if the supplied fitting differs from the agreed order?

Contact us with the order details and describe the difference. Items supplied incorrectly can be returned; agree on the return arrangements with the team first.
